In late August 2026, a catastrophic glacier collapse and avalanche near the Nepal–Tibet border along the Langtang Lirung peak triggered devastating flash floods down the Trishuli River basin. The surge swept downstream at tremendous speeds, submerging entire villages, destroying crucial bridges, roads, and hydroelectric facilities, and severing key border checkpoints. Over 1,300 lives were lost, thousands were reported missing, and tens of thousands of families were left displaced and cut off from essential supplies and clean water. Emergency operations led by search and rescue teams faced extreme challenges due to blocked transportation corridors and extensive debris, making it one of the region's worst climate-related disasters in recent history.
HExN is now responding to the current flood disaster. Through our partners in Nepal, we are delivering urgent relief to affected communities
